Our Web Design and Development
Process
Our Study
on Web Design and Development
We educate ourselves
in regards to your industry. Understanding exactly what
"you do" is just as important to us, as the
design and development process. An understanding of
our clients businesses is what sets us apart and gives
us a rather large advantage over our competition. We
ask questions, many of them, we gather as much information
regarding a clients industry as we possibly can. This
system allows us to see possible issues and find solutions
before they ever arise. It also allows us to understand
how the client wants their visitors to interact with
their website and applications.
Most web design and
development companies take on a project, write out a
proposal, ask the client what they require, show the
client what they can do, and come back a few months
later with a website. From that point there can be many
more weeks of adjustments to the site and any applications
that go along with it, costing the client time and added
expense and frustration.
At globeflash we involve
the client as much as they want to be involved. We understand
that a client usually has a good idea what they are
looking for and the Internet presence they wish to express,
from the technical side to the creative media end we
try to educate the client as to what methods can work
best and what we can do to best give the client exactly
what they want.
Web Structure
and Modules
The web is a modular
arena, everything fits together by way of bits of data,
some outdated, some updated. However your website should
not be the bit that is outdated, meaning so many web
sites are built on a now premise and in a years time
is totally outdated. This is whay at globeflash we build
web sites and applications with expansion and improvement
in mind every step of the way, this gives us the ability
to respond very quickly and efficiently to market and
industry changes and trends.
Our Standard
Web Development Operating Procedures
1. We build your web application from the ground up
in a modular procedure. This enables changes to be made
in a moments notice and easily adapts to industry changes
and requirements.
2.. Our project team
works closely with client to show progress every step
of the way to ensure that what is being built is exactly
what is
required.
3. We continually test
our designs, and code.
4. Our team is required
to spend at least 12 hours per week learning and evaluating
new technologies and solutions to integrate into our
future development.
Before performing any
actual development work on a project we first go through
a standard set of procedures to ensure that the final
product will not just be a technical and visual masterpiece
- but that it will also fulfill the vision, needs, and
desires of our client.
Here is an
outline of some of those procedures.
1. We meet with key
in house staff to understand first of all what clients
expects from the site and where they see the site taking
their company in the next several years. And also to
get a high level of understanding about the client's
business, products and/or services.
2. We do extensive
research into the client's competition and ascertain
a precise definition of the desired target audience,
user expectations, level of internet experience, and
their technical (hardware/software) capabilities.
3. After that we hold
several internal meetings at globeflash to discuss different
approaches and possibilities and analyze in detail which
of our ideas would benefit the client the most based
on the above outlined information-gathering steps.
4. At this stage we
inform the client about the most appropriate and beneficial
options we can offer based on the objectives. After
in-depth discussions and Q&A, the client has a deep
understanding of the possibilities. Armed with this
knowledge, the client can adequately access and utilize
our high level Internet skills.
5. At that point in
time we start putting together a specification document
that outlines the elements involved, describes the "modules"
and "phases" (link to Modular Approach), a
budget and outlines delivery milestones and deadlines.
6. The specifications
are shown to the client for approval and discussion,
and refinement if necessary. Once the specs are approved,
the budget is finalized and signed by the client, and
a Purchase Order is issued.
7. With firm specifications
in our hands we start the development process. This
process takes place on several team tracks-thus we have
a team working on visuals, a team working on programming,
a team working on interactive animations, a team working
on content and assembly. Each team is guided by a Lead
Designer, Programmer, Animator etc. All are overseen
by one of our art directors, project managers and account
managers.
8. At that point in
time we start putting together a specification document
that outlines the elements involved, describes the "modules"
and "phases" (link to Modular Approach), a
budget and outlines delivery milestones and deadlines.
9. During the development
process we show the client the progress and let the
client test the system prototypes; the client provides
feedback and modification requests that are immediately
implemented into the future development process.
10. Once the development
is finished all systems are integrated with each other
and are tested for satisfactory operation even under
extreme conditions. Beta testing for usability is also
done at this point.
11. Modifications are
done to the system based on the Stress Testing and Beta
testing results.
12. The Website is
launched!
13. User Feedback is
gathered and web site statistics analyzed to see if
some parts of the site need improvement and clarification.
14. Based on these
analyses recommendations on improvement are made.
globeflash continues to monitor site and maintain flawless
operation and implementation of any needed improvements
based on site operation, user feedback and statistics
analysis.
